Katherine Hoeck earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Physics from Shepherd University. During her time at Shepherd, she participated in several research projects on physics computing, mathematical modeling, and engineering. She has experience teaching both physics and mathematics at the middle and high school levels where she helped develop lesson plans for her school’s STEM curriculum. She recently worked as a STEM instructor for AviationEd where she led afterschool programs, enrichment classes, and camps in the areas of aeronautics and aviation including the fall 2017 Compass program, “Aviation Science: The Physics of Flight.” Katherine also works as a field investigator for research projects at the University of North Michigan. She loves having the opportunity to share her passion for STEM with students and getting to see the looks on their faces when they discover something new about their physical world. Katherine lives in Silver Spring, MD, and in her spare time, likes to tinker with her Arduino microcontroller and build circuits!
