Homeschool String Ensemble: Violin, Viola, Cello & Bass Musicians Invited

Musicians are needed for the Compass Homeschool String Ensemble! Does your child play violin, viola, cello, or bass? The String Ensemble is an opportunity for beginning* and intermediate string musicians in 6th-12th grade to play with others in collaborative, group setting, an experience often missing from private lessons.

The String Ensemble will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 am – 10:55 am starting September 7. Registration is for a 13-week semester with plans for the group to continue second semester through May. Interested students may register HERE.

Monika Chamasyan-Dorosheff is returning to Compass as the conductor for String Ensemble. She is an educator, recording artist, and professional violin soloist. She serves as concertmaster of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in Maryland, the New Dominion Chorale in Virginia, the American Festival Pops Orchestra at the George Mason University, along with performing as a member of the first violin section of the Washington Concert Orchestra. Monika will also be offering private lessons at Compass in addition to the Starting with Strings class.

* Beginning and intermediate students are those who are currently (or recently) enrolled in private lessons on their instruments and have played for a minimum of one year or have participated in an intensive summer orchestra camp. At a minimum, a beginning student should be able to play a D major scale on his/her instrument.
