5 Fun Things to Do at Compass in February

For the shortest month of the year, February is one of Compass’s busiest months! Mark your calendars and join us for:

Feb. 10: Valentines Exchange

Compass will hold its annual Valentines exchange for students and siblings on Wed. February 10. See details on line, and e-mail Compass to sign up!

Feb. 10: Jr. Homeschool Spelling Bee

4:30 – 6:00 pm for spellers under the age 9. This is a fun bee with the top two finishers being invited to the Sr. Spelling Bee the following week. Homeschoolers who do not attend Compass are welcome to participate. See additional details and register online.

Feb. 16: Compass Winter Talent and Art Showcase

6:00 pm- 7:00 pm social hour with art gallery; 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm talent performances. Students are invited to exhibit art and perform! We still have openings for performing artists to sing, dance, perform a comedy skit, act out a dramatic scene, recite a poem or speech, demonstrate a martial art, entertain with mime, magic, juggling, and more!

For students whose talents are in the visual arts rather than performing arts, the atrium is going to be converted to an art gallery! We also still have gallery space for visual artists to exhibit 1-3 2D or 3D pieces such as drawings, paintings, photographs, comics, pottery, mosaics, dioramas, or sculptures that they have created. Open to 2015-16 registered Compass families only. E-mail Compass to sign up.

Feb. 17: Sr. Homeschool Spelling Bee

4:30 – 6:00 pm for spellers ages 9- 15. This is an official “school level” bee for the Scripps contest with the winner being invited to the Fairfax County bee in March. Homeschoolers who do not attend Compass are welcome to participate. See additional details and register online.

Feb. 10 – 19: Collect Items for the Homeless
