Uehling, Eleanor (Elly)

Elly Uehling is a retired elementary school teacher with 45 years of experience. She taught in special education classrooms and regular classrooms in kindergarten through third grade. She also served as a math and science lead teacher and as a mentor to student-teachers. More recently, Elly has tutored students, worked in a Montessori classroom, and volunteered in the Early Intervention Reading Initiative at a Fairfax County elementary school. She is a presenter with the Northern Virginia Writing Project and has experience doing teacher evaluations, coaching, and teacher research. Elly volunteers as a docent at the Insect Zoo at the Natural History Museum and is involved with the Monarch Teacher Network. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with a minor in Education at Principia College in Elsah, Illinois, and a Master of Arts at Columbia Teachers College with an emphasis in Special Education-Neurologically Impaired. She completed additional coursework at George Mason and George Washington University.
