Sheila Huyett is a professional artist with extensive experience in Montessori education. Her background is partially self-taught after growing up in Vicenza, Italy, a community seeped in art through its classical architecture, stained glass, frescoes, and rich colors. Sheila works predominantly in oil paints and prefers botanical subjects, especially florals which she calls her “indoor garden.” Sheila’s work can be seen in her online gallery. She took her first formal art class just 10 years ago with an instructor who taught the “macchiaioli” Italian Impressionist style which celebrates spontaneity and the idea that there is no “wrong way” to paint.

Sheila was a leader in Montessori education from 2004-2017, first as the owner/lead teacher of Villa Montessori School and then as a director who supported the start-up of new Montessori schools across the nation. Sheila used her experience in Montessori methodology and art to develop an art curriculum based on the Montessori approach. More recently, she has turned her curriculum into an arts education program called, “B-Artsy” for which she is considered the Chief Executive Artist (CEA). B-Artsy offers art lessons, camps, workshops and parties to students of all ages. She previously taught at the Providence Academy in Leesburg and for Loudoun County Public School Adult Education. She is a member of the Loudoun Arts Council, American Montessori Society, Association Montessori Internationale, and North American Montessori Teacher’s Association. Her paintings have been displayed around northern Virginia. Shelia has teaching diplomas from the North American Montessori Center and the American Montessori Center to complement her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science Engineering.
