Joe Granksi is an artist and art instructor who has experience teaching in the classroom, online, and one-on-one. His experience spans oil paints, acrylics, water color, drawing, illustration, and digital art. He has expertise in “old master’s” techniques as well as traditional portraiture. Joe practices a holistic style of teaching which includes art history, materials, and context in addition to technique. Most recently, he has worked as an Art Instructor at the Community School of Music and Arts in Ithaca, NY, where he developed his own curriculum and taught classes such as introduction to oil painting, portrait in oil, life painting, and gave private art instruction. Joe also taught introductory workshops in acrylic painting for Wine & Design in Ithaca, NY. He has recently moved back to northern Virginia where he started his art career in 2002 at CustomInk in Tysons where he ran the custom art department using digital illustration. Joe earned a BFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2001.
