Band Instrument Test Drive Event, May 7
Have you touched a trombone, held a horn, clicked a clarinet, or struck a snare? Try these instruments and others at a special Instrument Test Drive at Compass on Tuesday, May 7!
Band is often cited as an school experience that parents worry that their homeschooled kids will miss out on. Compass is offering a Homeschool Concert Band in 2024-25, and this Test Drive event introduces students to the choices of band instruments.
Representatives from the Music & Arts store will have test instruments set up in Suite D near the main desk from 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm. Students will have an opportunity to handle and blow different instruments. The Compass band director, Jessica Eastridge, will be on hand to answer questions about band camp and Compass’s new Homeschool Concert Band program. This is a drop-in event.
The Instrument Test Drive is open to all homeschoolers, whether or not they take classes at Compass yet. Interested students are invited to consider the following programs:
- Dulles Area Summer Band Camp: July 29- August 2. Registration Open/Ongoing. Open to non-homeschoolers also.
- Concert Band, Percussion Beginners: Mondays, 10:00 am + 1:00 pm, starting Sept 9- Registration Opens May 14
- Concert Band, Woodwinds Beginners: Mondays, 10:50 am + 1:00 pm, starting Sept 9- Registration Opens May 14
- Concert Band, Brass Beginners: Mondays11:40 am + 1:00 pm, starting Sept 9- Registration Opens May 14
- Concert Band, All Instrument Advanced Beginners: Mondays, 1:00 pm, starting Sept 9- Registration Opens May 14
- Children’s Beginner Band (grades 2 & 3): Tuesdays at 1:00 pm + 2:00 pm, starting Sept 3- Registration Opens May 14
- High School Band Ensemble, Beginners– All Instruments: Fridays, 11:00 am, starting Sept 6- Registration Opens May 14
