Virginia Homeschool Families: Remember that your Evidence of Progress is due in less than 3 months on August 1! Schedule now so you do not have to scramble over the summer.
Compass has two services to help homeschool families meet Virginia state requirements for Evidence of Progress reporting. Compass offers the BASI Survey standardized test and Individual Evaluations. These services are open to all homeschool families, including those who do not attend Compass classes.
BASI Standardized Testing
Students may take the Basic Achievement Skills Inventory (BASI) Survey, a simple written test for grades 3+ with 25-minute verbal section and 25-minute math section. Done in less than an hour!
All grade levels (3rd-12th) meet together, and everyone receives a token prize to celebrate completing the test. At $30.00, the BASI through Compass is more affordable than the CAT Survey, CAT 6, Stanford Online, or Iowa Test of Basic Skills tests through regional test providers ($37-$47).
Compass has 3 upcoming BASI test dates:
- Tuesday, May 12 at 3:15 pm- Register HERE
- Wednesday, May 13 at 3:15 pm- Register HERE
- Thursday, May 14 at 3:15 pm- Register HERE
Evaluator Meeting
Families can also sign up for individual meetings with an Evaluator. The evaluator is a Compass staff member who has a masters degree and understands the different paths of homeschooling children and teens of all learning profiles: on-level, accelerated, gifted, 2E, red-shirted/delayed entry, asynchronous, and neurodivergent. These individualized evaluations reflect Compass’s knowledge of various homeschool approaches, learning styles, and educational platforms. Sign up for a casual, comfortable evaluator meeting held at Compass. You will be contacted to schedule a 30-minute meeting at a mutually agreeable time. See the suggested list of materials to bring to your evaluator meeting.
