Sparks, Katherine

Katherine Sparks brings a strong background in microbiology and laboratory science, along with a passion for teaching students how science works in real-world settings. Katherine worked as a Senior Biologist at the American Type Culture Collection and as a Bacteriologist at Pace Analytical Services where she performed advanced techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, microbial culturing, and quality control analysis for the in pharmaceutical and environmental industries. In addition to her research experience, Katherine served as a graduate teaching assistant at George Mason University, where she taught microbiology lab courses and guided students through complex scientific concepts using hands-on methods. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Master of Science in Microbiology and Infectious Disease from George Mason University.
