Coming Soon: 2024 Homeschool Geography Bee

Do you know all the states and seas? Do you enjoy learning countries and capitals? Do you know the difference between Budapest and Bucharest? Do you like to study borders and boundaries; topography and tributaries; weather patterns, waterways, and wonders of the world? If so, then you would enjoy the 12th annual Homeschool Geography Bee!

Homeschooled geography enthusiasts are invited to register for the 2024 Northern Virginia Homeschool Geography Bee. This is a fun, low-pressure local bee that welcomes homeschooled kids from Virginia, Maryland, DC, and West Virginia.

Date: Wednesday, January 31

Time: 4:00 pm- 5:30 pm

Location: 510 Herndon Parkway, Suite C

Registration: Students must be pre-registered to participate. There is a fee of $10.00 for Compass students and $20.00 for non-Compass students to cover the cost of hosting the bee.

Details:

  • Questions will be taken from past year’s official National Geographic Bee contests. The format will be oral Q & A. There will be a few practice, warm-up rounds before competition questions are asked.
  • The Bee will consist of practice, final, and championship rounds, to obtain a single, bee winner.
  • Homeschooled students in 4th- 8th grades may participate.
  • This is a local bee only. The winner will not advance to further tiers of competition.
  • All participants will receive a certificate and small gift. The bee winner will receive an additional gift and trophy.
