Teen Responder First Aid & CPR Certification (4/27/26 & 5/4/26)
Description:
Would you know what to do if you cut yourself in the kitchen? What if a friend had a severe allergic reaction to food or your grandparent suddenly collapsed? Whether you play outdoors, participate in sports, go to the pool, cook at home, supervise siblings, or just hang out with friends, you should know what to do when an emergency arises! First Aid and CPR are the practical life skills you hope you don't have to use, but are thankful for if you do. Earn national certification in one course in preparation for working as a camp aide, babysitter, assistant coach, counselor-in-training, or part time employee.
This workshop will be taught in two, 2-hour sessions. Topics include choking relief, bleeding control, broken bones, burns, allergic reactions, breathing problems, heat and cold related complications, bites/stings, fainting/unconsciousness, performing CPR, using an automated external defibrillator (AED), and more. Students will also learn to use an Epinephrine auto injector (EpiPen) as well as a Naloxone spray for opioid (narcotic) emergencies. Students will have hands-on practice with many skills and will have to demonstrate competency at certain steps to be "signed off" on learned skills.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive certification from the Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) in "Standard First Aid, Adult, Child, Infant CPR & AED, and Epinephrine Auto Injector". The digital certifications are valid for two years, and students will be able to print out their certifications for coaches, employers, scout leaders, or their own records. This workshop requires that students attend both class meetings and successfully perform all skills in order to earn the certification.
This course is recommended for students ages 14+, and adults are welcome to enroll.
