Dr. Myla Grier is an experienced English educator and writing instructor who has taught students from middle school through college in public school, adult education, and higher education settings. She holds a Doctorate in Education in Educational Leadership from Holy Family University in Philadelphia, PA; a Master of Science in Adolescent Education with a minor in Writing from Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY; and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Literature with a minor in Secondary Education from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.
Throughout her career, Dr. Grier has taught English Language Arts, Honors English, College Prep English, AP English Language and Composition, composition, research writing, and English as a Second Language. Her teaching experience includes positions with Loudoun County Public Schools, Henrico County Public Schools, Prince George’s County Public Schools, the School District of Philadelphia, Nassau BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Nassau County, New York), Jersey College, and the Abu Dhabi Education Council. She has worked with honors and Advanced Placement students, multilingual learners, students with exceptional learning needs, adult learners, and students preparing for high school equivalency credentials.
Dr. Grier’s professional involvement includes serving as a Teacher Consultant with the Northern Virginia Writing Project and membership in the Authors Guild and Association of Writers & Writing Programs. She brings to Compass extensive experience helping students strengthen their skills in reading, literary analysis, composition, research, and academic writing.
