Juan Urista brings a unique dual background in aviation and performance. He is an FAA-certified Advanced Ground Instructor and experienced aviation educator, as well as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he spent seven years in aircraft maintenance. Juan holds two Associate of Science degrees from San Diego Miramar College in Aviation/Airway Management and Operations and Aviation Maintenance Technology, along with a Certificate of Achievement in Aviation Maintenance Technology/Pilot Studies. His experience also includes work with Civil Air Patrol, emergency services, and search and rescue, as well as providing tactical training support for the Department of Defense, Department of Justice, and law enforcement agencies.
Earlier in his career, Juan pursued his passion for acting, working as both an actor and stunt performer in film, television, and high-intensity simulation environments. He served as a Production Assistant with Stu Segall Productions in San Diego and has credits including Pensacola: Wings of Gold, The Invisible Man, and Veronica Mars. His combined background in military service and performance has also led to work in immersive training scenarios, where he supports realistic role-play and tactical simulations for military personnel.
Juan is the owner and chief creator of Avyation Labs Publishing & Media Works including Hangar One Studios through which he develops, publishes, and delivers instructional materials.
