Algebra meets adulting in Practical Math for Real Life. This class examines real-life scenarios and practices the math that young adults will need after graduating high school.

Instead of working math problems in abstract exercises, students will revisit foundational math concepts through practical, everyday scenarios. Often referred to as “Consumer Math,” this course also fulfills a high school credit in Personal Finance.

Practical Math is for high school students who have completed pre-algebra. The class meets Monday and Thursday at 10:00 am at Compass starting September 8. Class topics include:

  • Saving and Investing 
  • Credit Cards
  • Measurement/Metric System/Unit Conversion
  • Discounts 
  • Wages/Income 
  • Pricing and Cost 
  • Rent/Mortgages 
  • Types of Insurance 
  • Loans- Auto/Student/Personal/Consumer 
  • Automobiles 
  • Budgeting
