New Director of Homeschool String Ensemble

Compass is pleased to introduce the new director of our Homeschool String Ensemble, Mr. John Kaboff.

Mr. Kaboff is a distinguished cellist and educator based Vienna where he has been teaching youth at his academy, The Kaboff Cello School, since 1995. He has earned accolades for his teaching by numerous world-class cellists such as Yo-Yo Ma and Janos Starker. Mr. Kaboff currently serves as the Director of Chamber Music for the Capital Symphonic Youth Orchestra and Chairman of the Washington International Competition for Strings. He earned Bachelor and Master degrees from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Homeschool String Ensemble meets on Wednesday mornings from 11:00 am – 11:55 am, starting September 10.

Mr. Kaboff will also be teaching “Demystifying Music Theory” on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am and private cello lessons on Wednesday afternoons at Compass. Brand new string players are invited to learn violin and viola in our “Starting with Strings” program with Dr. Steffany Shock.
