Join Us for Compass Year-End Family Picnic & Park Day

Celebrate the end of the homeschool year! Welcome summer! Say good-bye to current friends, and meet new ones who will be joining us in the fall! This event is open to anyone who attended Compass classes in 2020-21 and new families who have just registered for 2021-22 classes. RSVP on SignUp Genius to let us know if you are coming:

Meet-Up: Picnic Shelter and Playing Field

Compass has reserved facilities at Bready Park in Herndon to hold our annual Year-End Family Picnic and Park Day. This is an informal, casual drop-in event.

Pack lunch for your family, and join us for a group picnic followed by outdoor games. High school members of the Alpha Rho Honor Society will be running several traditional field day games such as sack race, tug-of-war, silly relays, etc for younger kids. Kids will rotate through the field day stations in loose age groups. Organized activities take approx. 1 hour, 15 minutes. After that, kids are free to repurpose the equipment, make up their own games, play, run-around and enjoy the 2 playgrounds.

What to Bring:

  • Picnic lunch and plenty of drinks/water for your own family.
  • A snack to share (Kids are usually ready for snacks around 3:30-4:00 pm)

  • —Last Name H-M: Savory Snack
  • —Last Name N-Z: Healthy Snack
  • Sports equipment & outdoor toys to share (bats, balls, gloves, soccer balls, footballs, volleyball, badminton, corn hole, frisbees, bubbles, lawn games, sand toys, squirt guns, etc.) Please label everything that you bring.
  • Board games of card games for anyone who does not want to play sports.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, and/or insect repellent.
  • Folding camp/sports-type chair.

  • In the event of a day-long, drenching rain and/or thunderstorms, this event will be rescheduled. Rain date to be announced after coordination with Town of Herndon availability.
  • Facility restrooms are currently closed but are supposed to be re-opened on June 1.
