Clubs, Teams, and Activities Start this Week at Compass- Join Now!
Compass has a variety of clubs and teams planned for the coming year! Some are open only to Compass students, and some are open to others in the homeschool community. Follow is an alphabetical list of opportunities and the links for more information and to sign up:
Alpha Rho Chapter, Homeschool National Honor Society (8th-12th grade)
Student-led organization promoting scholarship, academic excellence, networking, service projects, and socials.

Astronomy Clubs (6th-8th grade, 9th-12th grade)
The High School Astronomy Club consists of space enthusiasts who discuss current events and discoveries in the field of astronomy and work on the Pulsar Search Collaboratory project. The Middle School Astronomy Club shares a passion for space topics and participates in Citizen Scientist space investigations.
- Tuesdays from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm, every other week

Civil Air Patrol (ages 12-18)
The William P Knight Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol serves the community through education, service, and emergency response/preparedness. Youth members (“Cadets”) focus on aerospace and cyberspace education, character development, leadership, physical fitness, and community service.
- Squadron meets weekly on Thursdays from 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm
- CyberPatriots meets on Sundays from 2:00 pm- 5:00 pm, every other week
- Rolling, year-round registration after attending meetings as a guest

Compass Collaborative Student Newspaper (4th-12th grade)
Staff and guest writers contribute Compass news, creative writing, short stories, poetry, teacher interviews, reviews (movie, video, book, or toys), puzzles, riddles, jokes, photos, artwork, comics, or opinion pieces.
- Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the quarter from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm for planning/assignments
- Meets on the last Tuesday of the quarter from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm for publication party
- Starts September 30

Crafty Kids Club (2nd- 5th grade)
Kids in grades 2-5 (ages 7-10) stay “after school” to socialize and make themed crafts using a wide variety of materials and techniques.
- Meets weekly on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm
- Starts September 6
- Compass and non-Compass students register by quarter HERE
Crazy 8s Junior Math Club (2nd-5th grade)
Elementary kids gather for interactive, hands-on fun-filled math-inspired activities for kids of all math abilities using the Crazy 8s Club curriculum.
- Meets weekly on Wednesdays from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm
- Starts September 21

Dungeons & Dragons Club (ages 13+)
Teens ages 13+ meet to play D & D fantasy roll playing game in groups of 5-6 with one experienced player being the “dungeon master” (DM). The groups will begin with one- or two-session short campaigns before determining who is interested in longer campaigns. New and experienced players welcome.
- Meets weekly on Mondays from 3:00 pm- 5:00 pm

Girl Scout Troop 3327 (Kindergarten – 12th grade)
Girls ages 5-18 are invited to participate in Girl Scouts as Daisies (K, 1st grade), Brownies (2nd-3rd grade), Juniors (4th-5th grade), Cadettes (6th-8th grade), Seniors (9th-10th grade), or Ambassadors (11th-12th grade).
- Meets on 1st Thursday of the month from 3:00 pm- 5:00 pm (except Sept.)
- Meets on 3rd Thursday of the month for field trips at various locations around northern Virginia

History of Science Book Club (ages 13+)
Teens and adults pre-read and meet to discuss books having scientific impact on world history and human geography.
- Meets on Fridays from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm, every other week
- Starts September 23

Homeschool String Ensemble (4th-8th grade)
Homeschooled violin, viola, cello, or bass musicians at an advanced beginner to intermediate level play with others in an ensemble.
- Meets weekly on Wednesdays from 11:00 am – 11:55 am
- Starts September 7
- Compass and non-Compass students register for the semester HERE
MATHCOUNTS Team (6th-8th grade)
- Meets weekly on Thursdays from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm
- Starts September 15
- Compass students pay registration fee HERE
- Non-Compass students pay registration fee and facility fee HERE
Mock Trial Team (9th-12th grade)
Teens strong in public speaking, debate, or acting, or interested in law portray witnesses and attorneys in a mock murder case. Interest meeting and auditions for the team are held in May.

Pen Point Literary Magazine (9th-12th grade)
Teen writers serve as authors and editors for annual literary and art anthology. PenPoint is run as a weekly class. Contributing writers and artists in 7th-12th grade will be invited to submit fiction, essays, poems, art, and photography 2nd semester.
- Meets weekly on Tuesdays online from 11:00 am – 11:55 am

TGIF Teen Game Night (ages 13+)
Teens ages 13+ play board games, card games and enjoy social time
- Meets weekly on Fridays from 4:30 pm- 6:30 pm
- Starts September 9
- This is a drop-in with no cost for Compass teens only
Tween Game Afternoon (ages 10-13)
Tweens ages 10-13 play board games, card games and enjoy social time.
- Meets weekly on Wednesdays from 3:00 pm- 4:00 pm
- Starts September 14
- This is a drop-in with no cost for Compass tweens only
