Featured Class: Stage Combat

Superhero Sagas, Star Wars, Shakespeare…. great stories on stage and screen have great fight scenes! Stage Combat is the art of creating and choreographing realistic-appearing fight scenes for plays and films.

Stage Combat returns to Compass this fall under the direction of Mallory Shear. Ms Shear is an experienced actor, fight director, choreographer, and stunt performer.

First quarter, teens will learn unarmed fighting techniques, like those used in a fist fight or a backstreet brawl. They will practice basic punches, kicks, falls and more. Stage combat may resemble martial arts or fencing, but the techniques represent a different set of theatrical skills with an emphasis on safety.
