6 Months Remain to Earn the President’s Volunteer Service Award
There still 6 months left for homeschooled students to earn the President’s Volunteer Service Award through Compass. This award celebrates the volunteer work that students complete from September 1 through August 31 each year. Many homeschoolers volunteer in the community and at camps during the summer, so this is a great time to get started on the PVSA.
The PVSA award is given at the Bronze, Silver, and Gold level, depending on the student’s age and number of volunteer hours completed. Students receive a medal and personalized certificate at an awards ceremony in the fall. For teens, the PVSA award can be a noteworthy recognition on college applications to demonstrate community involvement and leadership.
If you are interested in earning the PVSA, please read all Compass program details including dates, how to document your work and what kinds of volunteer work you can do. Compass will certify the PVSA for enrolled Compass students from VA, MD, DC, and WV, and for other homeschooled students from northern Virginia.
Students must sign up to let us know who is working on the award and to receive PVSA-specific reminders. Compass students register HERE (no fee). Non-Compass northern VA homeschooled students register HERE (nominal activity fee). Questions about the PVSA program should be directed to awards@compassclasses.com
Students who are not homeschooled or located outside of northern Virginia can earn the PVSA and other recognitions through our partner program, Volunteer Scholars.
