Spring Break:  Classes will resume next week, on April 11, after our Spring Break. (Except, cooking and mosaics classes taught by Mimi Nyman will not meet.)

First Aid & CPR Workshop for Teens: LAST CHANCE- Teens can earn 4 Red Cross certifications in this two-day workshop on Monday, April 11 and Monday, April 18 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Great for summer jobs. Register HERE.

One-Day Passes: Families can purchase limited one-day passes to our Animal Kingdom Alive program. Meet live animal ambassadors such as raptors, fish, woodland mammals, exotic mammals, bats, or insects. Find one-day passes on our Activities Fees webpage.

Year-End Evaluations: Homeschool families must show proof of progress by August 1 each year. Some prefer to meet this requirement with a one-on-one evaluation rather than a standardized test. Compass writing instructor Shannon McClain is available to meet with families at Compass and prepare evaluation through her business, Educational Advocacy & Support LLC. Used Curriculum Sale: The annual Compass Family Used Curriculum Sale will be held on Wednesday, April 27, from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm. Families can sign up to sell pre-owned curricula, workbooks, textbooks, fiction and non-fiction books, reference books, manipulatives, educational games, science or craft kits/sets, etc. There is no cost to participate, but sellers must sign up HERE.

Space Science Careers Workshop: Girls in 5th-8th grade are invited to a free workshop to learn about careers in the aerospace industry on Thursday, April 21, from 3:00 pm- 5:00 pm. The workshop is hosted by Compass Senior Elizabeth Bradshaw as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award. Participants will do hands-on experiments to learn about careers in the space industry and will earn an event patch. There is no cost to participate, but participants must sign up by e-mail.

Prom 2022: The Compass homeschool prom, “A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream will be held for Compass teens and their guests, ages 14+ (9th-12th grade) on Saturday, May 7, from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm. Tickets are $18.00/each and can be purchased HERE.

Spring Marketplace: The annual Spring Marketplace will be held on Wednesday, May 11, from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm. Kids and parents can sign up to sell hand-crafted, home-grown, or home-baked items, or catalog merchandise. Use your imagination! There is no cost to participate, but sellers must sign up HERE.

Private Lessons/Tutoring: Compass instructors continue to offer one-on-one tutoring and private instruction in music, writing, math, foreign languages, music, college planning, and more. Local musician Monika Dorosheff is now available to teach private violin, viola, and cello lessons. Contact Compass for more information.

Fall Registration: Early registration for fall classes will begin on Tuesday, May 17, at 6:00 am. The full schedule will be available the first week in May. For the next month, the Compass registration page will be “Under Construction” as the new year is uploaded.

President’s Education Award for Academic Excellence: Compass is a sponsor of this academic award for students who are competing 6th grade, 8th grade, or 12th grade. Application due Friday, May 6, includes parent-generated report card, standardized test score, and parent statement. For more information see webpage.

Chess Tournament: The annual Compass Quads Homeschool Chess Tournament will be held on Wednesday, May 25, from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. Read more about the chess tournament and register HERE.

Picnic and Park Day: Save the date for the annual Compass Family Picnic and Park Day on Thursday, May 26 from 12:00 pm- 4:00 pm. Field day games and activities organized by the Alpha Rho Honor Society.

President’s Volunteer Service Award and American Citizenship Award: It is not too late to begin to work on these awards. Many students complete their volunteer efforts over the summer. Documentation is due annually on August 31. See award webpages for details.
