Announcing the 2020 Compass Art and Variety Show!

Compass students are invited to showcase their talents in a fun, social, community evening! The Annual Art & Variety Show is scheduled for Tuesday evening, March 24, from 6:00 pm- 9:00 pm. Students may now sign up to exhibit art, to perform, or both.

For the Variety Show, students are invited to sing, dance, perform a comedy skit, act out a dramatic scene, recite a poem or speech, demonstrate a martial art, entertain with mime, magic, juggling, play an instrument, or more! Students are welcome to act or perform solo or in small groups.

For the Art Show, students are invited to exhibit up to 3 pieces of art. Art can be 2-dimensional works (paintings, pastels, photography, mixed media, drawings in charcoal, colored pencil, marker, pen/ink, comics, caricatures, print-making, collage, rubbings, hand-made paper) or 3-dimensional works: (sculpture, pottery, paper mache, masks, wood crafts, hand-made basketry, mosaics, ceramics, decoupage, stained glass, or wall-hung fiber art such as needlepoint, cross stitch, or weaving). Visual art does not need to have been created in a Compass class- it can be made at home, in another program, or at a studio. New this year, students can choose if they want their piece to be judged by a panel of Compass art instructors for the chance at a show ribbon.

The Art and Variety Show is for students who are currently enrolled in Compass classes. Exhibit space and performance time slots are limited! Participating students will receive additional details in early March regarding stage space, recorded music format, mounting artwork, etc. Students may exhibit artwork and perform, and they may also perform individually and in an ensemble or group act. If more than one, please sign up for two slots. For additional information on performances, see the variety show webpage. For more information on exhibiting visual art, see the art show webpage.
