Karen Ungerman is the health and wellness coach for the Compass Wellness Works program. As a teenager, Karen began her personal journey in health and wellness through a focused study of a hereditary disease and by embarking on a weight training regimen. She became a fitness instructor who supported clients ranging from active duty military members and body builders, to mothers and young athletes. Her coaching work included rehabilitation of injured soldiers in the gym and in the pool. Karen earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Cell Biology and Anatomy from Midwestern State University and a Master’s Degree in Health and Wellness from California University of Pennsylvania. She works as an individual Health Coach for Kurbo Health and has special interest in the areas of advanced sports nutrition, certified personal trainer, fitness nutrition, weight loss, and yoga. Karen is transplant recipient who overcame personal health hurdles to also become a national coordinator for the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation. Karen lives in Burke with her husband and daughter whom she homeschools.
